Philip William Scriber II was born in 1837.  Philip was the fourth child and third son of Philip William and Polly Wright Schriver.

Philip and Mary are found in the 1860 census of Sullivan County NY (Town of Liberty):  Philip W. Scriber, 25 yr farmer; Mary, 22 yr; Alfie and Newton, 1 yr. twins.

It appears that his wife Mary, and twin sons may have died early in the marriage.  Sullivan County Court House Record (land transaction):  1863 Philip W. Schriber from Philip Schriber  Liber 47 p. 471.  This appears to have been land transferred from father to son. This record says name of wife was Catherine Charlet/Chailet.  As mentioned above in the 1860 census records, his wife was Mary.  Since it is assumed she died early, is it possible that Philip remarried this Catherine?  We may never know!

Philip William died in Colchester, Delaware Co NY, on February 14, 1902.  He was 65.  He was buried in Downsville NY on June 16, 1902.  His death certificate does not list a wife. The name of his parents were listed as "unknown" but this certificate was found among the papers of Adelbert Scriber leading to the conclusion that Philip was Adelbert's uncle and a brother of his father, John Eli. John's father was also Philip lending even more evidence to this belief.  Philip  is listed as a farmer and having been attended by a physician named Edward A. Howell for heart disease from February 13, 1902 until his death. He lived in Delaware County . His will is filed in Delhi NY and the following were listed as his only heirs: Martin and Peter of Livingston Manor, Polly Scriber residing in NY State, nephews and nieces, Adelbert M., Bert B., Carrie M. of Monticello, Blake D. of Livingston Manor, Alva Anderson residing in CA, Harkness Cochran and niece Elsie Cochran residing in PA.

Susan Schock contributed to this biography.

Mary ? was Philip's wife.  A reference in the Schock work puts her birth as 1838, but based on the 1860 census information, she was born ca 1840.  We know little else about her.

We have no concrete information on Philip and Mary's marriage.

Philip William and Mary had two (2) children.  They were part of the sixth generation of the Schryver family in America:
  Alfie Scriber b: 1859; d: 1859
Newton Scriber b: 1859; d: 1859     Apparently both of the twins died young
