Joseph Scriver was born in 1820. However,
according to the Burch research, he was 35 at the time of the Catskill
1850 census. That points to the fact that he was born around 1815.
He was the fifth child and third son of Martinus and Lena Falk Schryver.
The spelling of the surname is again an issue.
The Burch book lists Joseph Scriver (Scriber). His children use
both spellings with the possibility of a third! The Schock work
uses the spelling Schryver.
The Schock data says that he died before 1908 at the
age of 88. Again, if he had been born in 1815, his death would
have been around 1903.

We have no information on
Joseph's wife except that she must have died before 1850. She was
not listed in the 1850 census records.
